The rain started to pour out of nowhere, above her she could see the clouds stirring, growing larger and more menacing by the second. The rumble of the thunder seemed to travel from the mountains shaking everything in it’s path. Penny instinctively sunk lower into the water of the lake, she was terribly frightened. By the looks of everything this was not an ordinary storm that was just going to pass in an hour or so. Frantically she leapt quickly out of the water and grabbed for her clothes.

As Penny trudged her way through the forest she could hear the distinctive cracks and snaps of branches breaking and falling to the ground below. It would be only minutes before the trees were next to fall, she had to get out faster. When she arrived at the edge of the forest away from the lake she was horrified to see what lay before her. The town had already begun to fall apart, she could see various objects flying across the streets. Penny began to run, she made good time but was stopped abruptly by not just one, but several fallen trees, all scattered across her path. Her house was located in the middle of the block and there was no foreseeable way into the building. Not only was Penny afraid for herself, but she began to worry heavily on Marie. Where was she? Was she okay? If she was trapped at home it would be much more preferable than being stuck somewhere alone and unknown. Penny hoped to the gods that Dominic was with her, it would be one less thing for her to worry about. But now where was she herself to go? She thought surely there must be somewhere that other stranded towns people were, hesitantly she finally decided that she would turn back and go back to the central part of town.

On her way back into town the winds blew stronger and more objects danced there way menacingly through streets. It was becoming to dangerous to walk without protection. Penny could see to the left of her the town’s high school, like the snap of a finger she decided that she would find some sort of covered area there. She dodged past puddles and broken scraps of who knows what, and found herself trapped in the far side corner of the school building. Penny shrank to the floor, by now she was soaked to the bone, she was freezing. Holding herself tighter against the wind she squeezed her eyes shut hoping for just a sliver of the end of the current chaos.

That’s why I don’t get to see you enough. I’d really like that actually, I’ve never been skiing with a friend. I mean, there was the attractive ski instructor…

Distancing myself from one of them won’t be a problem, he played the disappearing card well. You’re right though, I’m just going to have to deal. Thanks for the advice and kind words, I really appreciate it. I’m Penny by the way.
